St. Mary's Medical Center Employees Raise More Than $27,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

November 6, 2007

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Employees and staff of St. Mary’s Medical Center were the stars who helped “Light the Night” in downtown West Palm Beach Friday, Nov. 2. Led by CEO Davide M. Carbone, 2007 Light the Night Walk Chairman for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Palm Beach Area Chapter, St. Mary’s employees raised more than $27,000 to help discover cures for blood cancers.

As walk chairman, Carbone served as the event’s top corporate volunteer leader and was responsible for recruiting and mobilizing fundraising teams. In addition to hosting events, raising money and leading his hospital team during the evening event, Carbone delivered the opening remarks for the Light The Night Walk at Centennial Square.

The St. Mary’s team joined approximately 1,800 others for the two-mile walk along Flagler Drive in downtown West Palm Beach, beginning and ending at the amphitheater in Centennial Square.

The Light The Night Walk is an annual event to raise funds in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission to improve the lives of blood cancer patients. Money raised through the walk is used to fund the work of hundreds of the world’s best and brightest researchers in their search for better therapies and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
