Young Girls Make a Difference With Hard-Earned Donation

June 28, 2007

Don Chester (seated), Associate Administrator at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, and Lisa Rocheleau, RN, Director of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, welcome Nicole Knifley (left) and Kayla Casey to the hospital.

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (NCH) Associate Administrator Don Chester was happy to accept a hard-earned $87 donation from nine-year old Nicole Knifley and 10-year old Kayla Casey.

The two Hobe Sound residents walked neighborhood dogs and held lemonade stands to raise funds in honor of a chronically-ill friend. When the girls came to NCH, administrators took them and their mothers through the hospital to show how their money would be used.  Following the tour, the girls – students at SeaWind Elementary School — made a commitment to raise additional funds for the hospital as well as assist the NCH Child Life Institute with play therapy craft sessions.
