WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – St. Mary’s Medical Center honored 198 of its employees who are celebrating five-year-incremental anniversaries in 2008 at its annual Employee Service Awards Dinner, held January 25 at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach.  Together, the employees had contributed a combined 2,515 years of service to St. Mary’s.

Among the employees honored were four who had been with the hospital for 40 years: Ethel Carpenter, dialysis technician, chronic hemodialysis; Peggy Stevens, L.P.N., NICU; Julie Towns, C.N.A., pediatrics; and Betty Wilcox, dialysis technician, chronic hemodialysis; and one with 35 years of service – Marianne Larson, R.N., NICU – who also was born at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Also recognized were Nurse of the Year, Teri Bushway, R.N., trauma services, and Employee of the Year, Henry Suarez, ultrasound technician.  Both the Nurse and Employee of the Year received a plaque detailing their honor, a $500 check and a pair of Waterford Crystal champagne flutes to toast their achievements.

“Our staff is remarkably dedicated to our patients and to this community,” said Davide M. Carbone, CEO at St. Mary’s Medical Center.  “It’s wonderful to be able to recognize these employees for their outstanding dedication to and longevity in their fields.”
