WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Mitchell Cohen has been named the new Hospital Compliance Officer at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
A respected professional with an impressive record of accomplishments in the healthcare industry, Cohen has worked in private law practices where he represented hospitals, long-term care and skilled nursing facilities, physicians, managed care organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and commercial insurers in regulatory and compliance matters.
Prior to joining St. Mary’s Medical Center, Cohen worked for the State of Florida, Office of the Attorney General as the Lead Assistant Attorney General in the Medicaid Fraud Control Section and previous to that as the Supervising Senior Attorney/Nursing Board Prosecution Supervisor in the Prosecution Services Unit for the Florida Department of Heath. He previously worked for the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General as the Deputy Attorney General in the Medical Fraud Control Section and the Torts Litigation Section.
Mitchell received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Temple University in Philadelphia, where he graduated magna cum laude, as well as his Juris Doctor cum laude degrees. He is currently licensed as an attorney in Florida., Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
In his new role, Mitchell will be primarily responsible for compliance and privacy issues at St. Mary’s Medical Center as well as advising on many administrative, regulatory, and patient care issues. Mitchell resides in Jupiter with his wife Lei and they have two children, Laurie and Sabrina.
