West Palm Beach, Florida (June 22, 2009) – St. Mary’s Medical Center has announced that Geraldine T. Muoio, Ph. D., has been appointed to the Board of Governors at the hospital.
Since 2006, Dr. Muoio has served as a West Palm Beach City Commissioner and president of the commission. Her background also includes serving as vice president for Education Policy and Services in Clearwater, Florida, and an educational consultant for Florida Atlantic University.
Among her many accomplishments, Dr. Muoio has advocated for the rights of children with disabilities, guided a high performing school district through a school improvement process and initiated an institute for urban educators. She is also involved with the community as a Graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County, an advisory board member of the Women’s Coalition of the Palm Beaches, and a member of the Board of Directors of several organizations, including PACE Center for Girls, KIND Foundation and Voices for Children.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree from State University College of New York at Geneseo, Dr. Muoio went on to get her Certificate of Advanced Study and Master of Science Degree from State University of New York at Oswego. She earned her Doctorate in Education Leadership (Ph.D.) from Syracuse University.
