West Palm Beach, Florida (February 20, 2009) – St. Mary’s Medical Center has announced that Marla Eckel has joined St. Mary’s Medical Center as the Director of the Rehabilitation Institute.
Marla brings over 20 years of healthcare management, marketing and program development to St. Mary’s. Marla received her bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management from Spring Arbor University, where she also obtained certification in gerontology. Marla has held many leadership positions in the rehabilitation field, including Director of Admissions, Director of Business Development and Director of Education. Most recently, Marla was the Director of Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Programs at Hurley Medical Center. During her tenure there, the Rehabilitation Center had 3 successful CARF surveys for Adult and Pediatric Medical and Brain Injury programs, and was the first in-patient facility in Michigan to be CARF accredited for the Stroke Specialty program. Marla also developed and led the implementation of The Center for Joint Replacement which had a direct impact on increased surgical cases, increased outpatient therapy visits and patient satisfaction of 99%.
Marla will be responsible for the coordination of care and service delivery, improving outcomes and customer satisfaction, fostering physician relationships, program growth, staff development and ensuring the financial success of the department.
