St. Mary’s Medical Center Awarded five CIGNA Quality Designations

West Palm Beach, Fla. – St. Mary’s Medical Center announced that it has received five CIGNA quality designations for 2009.  These designations confirm that the hospital has met rigorous quality criteria based on nationally recognized medical standards and expert advice.

St. Mary’s received the following designations: Caesarean Section, Adult Craniotomy, Heart Attack, Spinal Fusion and Stroke.

The CIGNA designations are based on the hospital’s effectiveness in treating the selected condition or performing the procedure. The designation measures and weighs complications, mortality and The Leapfrog Group Patient Safety Index.
