WEST PALM BEACH, FL – On July 27, 2009 103.1 The Buzz and Brandsmart USA of West Palm Beach celebrated Christmas in July with its 5th annual toy drive at The Children’s Hospital at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
“Toy drives in the summer are more essential than people realize,” said Lisa Rocheleau, Director of Pediatrics at St. Mary’s Medical Center. “Just because school’s out doesn’t mean that trips to the hospital end. That’s why it’s so important for the community to help replenish its hospitals’ supply of toys for its sick children.”
As in years past, The Buzz broadcasted live from West Palm’s Brandsmart USA from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m on Friday, July 24, 2009, to collect new, unwrapped toys from the public for the critically ill children at The Children’s Hospital at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Hundreds of toys were collected at the drive and then delivered on the 27th by The Buzz DJs. Santa Claus even stopped by for a special appearance at the hospital.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for West Palm Beach residents to help local children during a difficult time, and so few toy drives take place during the summer months,” said Joey Bulfin, St. Mary’s Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer. “I’d like to thank The Buzz, Brandsmart and all of our neighbors who helped make yet another Christmas in July toy drive a tremendous success for our young patients. I think I can speak on behalf of our patients and their families by saying that these toys will help brighten the days of those admitted here during the summertime.”
