Specialty Imaging Services
ge Bi-PlAne innovA 3131: Our state-of-the-art GE Bi-plane Innova 3131 Suite excels at producing highly detailed visualizations of arterial and venous systems, which is essential during procedures requiring exacting precision such as stent placement and blood vessel interventions. This low dose system—which provides automated dose and image quality—features a digital flat panel xray bi-plane imaging system, and consists of a floating table top and two floor mounted c-arms.
The Suite is used for :
- Adult and pediatric interventional procedures
- Neurovascular procedures
- Pediatric cardiac catheterization and intervention
- Treatment of uterine fibroids
ge single-PlAne innovA 3100: The GE Single-plane Innova 3100 also excels at producing highly detailed visualizations of ar terial and venous systems at low radiation doses.
The system is used for :
- General radiology
- Adult cardiac catheterization and intervention
ge lightsPeed vct select: Based on a new CT technology, our GE LightSpeed VCT Select provides your patients with the most advanced cardiac and neurological capabilities. It combines extended coverage of 120mm for brain perfusion and up to 500 slice equivalent with up to 40% lower dose ASIR—the lowest radiation dose on the market. Cardiac CT can be completed in just 1 to 2 seconds for pediatrics and only 3 to 5 seconds for adults, making it ideal in emergency situations where time is critical.
The CT is used for urgent care diagnostics in:
eos orthoPedic imAging system: St. Mary’s EOS Orthopedic Imaging System is the only one in Florida—and only the 9th in the US. By enabling patients to stand upright, it provides natural weight-bearing 3D images of the spine and lower limbs. The EOS System’s advanced full-body imaging permits simultaneous acquisition of frontal and lateral x-rays of the whole body as well as local anatomical areas, eliminating the need to piece together images.
Its low-dose radiation technology results in up to 90% lower doses than computerized radiology (CR) systems—and up to 100x lower exposure compared to CT scanners. Our EOS System thus offers radiologists, orthopedic surgeons, and rheumatologists new perspectives for diagnosis, surgical planning, and follow-up of spine, hip, and knee diseases.
ge Precision 500d Pulse fluoro system: Frequently requested by Physicians and Radiologists, the GE Precision 500D Pulse Fluoro System’s pulsating fluoro technology not only delivers exceptional image quality—it meets ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) standards by reducing doses up to 70%. And its 500-Ib table weight limit can accommodate nearly all patients.
The system is used for :
- Barium studies
- Blood flow studies
- Catheter placement
- Orthopedic surgery
Optima CT 660: The new GE Optima CT 660 helps minimize dose while delivering excellent diagnostic image quality. The scanner helps deliver highly competent, personalized care in an efficient and effective manner. Patients may benefit from dose reduction without sacraficing high quality images or diagnostic confidence. The Optima CT 660 is also noticeably quieter than in the past, and provides a more comfortable environment for the patient. The new system meets the needs of patients young and old, large and small, across a wide spectrum of procedures.
The Optima CT 660 serves a broad range of applications including:
- Orthopedic and more
Proteus XR/A: The GE Proteus XR/A is a full featured radiographic system designed with broad clinical flexibility to address all radiographic needs. The Proteus XR/A produces excellent image quality at reasonable dose levels, and enhances diagnostic confidence. This high-quality system has the freedom of movement and configuration for a wide range of table, wall stand, wheelchair, and stretcher examinations. The flexibility of the system makes examinations easier for the patient.
The Proteus XR/A serves general purpose radiology needs.
Discovery XR656: We now have only the second GE Discovery XR656 XR System installation in Southeast Florida. The new GE Discovery XR656 is an advanced, digital radiography x-ray system designed to help achieve maximum clinical versatility and productivity. The system’s VolumeRAD technology allows for multiple images of the anatomy in a single low dose sweep, including chest, abdomen, extremities, and spine. VolumeRAD virtually removes overlying structures enabling better visualization of the anatomy from front to back. The Discovery XR656 is able to perform examinations at either a wall stand or the table.
The Discovery XR656 serves general radiology needs.
MR Discovery 750W 3.0T: The GE MR Discovery 750W 3.0T scanner is designed to help maximize comfort for patients undergoing MR exams, while delivering exceptional image quality even during the most challenging examinations.
The MR Discovery 750W 3.0T allows for faster and more accurate scans, exceptional homogeneity among images, increased signal clarity and maximized signal intensity for cleaner, crisper images and better contrast between flowing blood and surrounding tissue. The system also results in easier neurofunctional brain mapping and DTI (Diffusion Tensor Imaging).
The system has a 70 cm wide bore, a soft redesigned table surface to alleviate pressure points, and offers a coil array for feet first imaging. These improvements lead to a more comfortable patient experience.

GE National Show Site for Interventional Radiology
St. Mary’s Medical Center is the only GE Show Site in the United States for interventional radiology. As a show site, St. Mary’s Medical Center has gained expertise with highly sophisticated interventional radiology equipment, including the GE Innova 3131 Bi-Plane Suite technology for advanced interventional neurology procedures. Medical professionals travel to St. Mary’s from around the world to gain interventional knowledge and expertise from St. Mary’s highly trained neurointerventionalists, radiologists and imaging specialists.
The GE imaging suite at St. Mary’s includes the GE Innova 3131 Bi-Plane Suite that can be utilized for cardiovascular, neurovascular, and general interventional radiology imaging. St. Mary’s Medical Center primarily utilizes the Bi-Plane Suite to perform neurointerventional procedures. Neurointerventional medicine is an emerging specialty to treat strokes, aneurysms, and neurovascular diseases. At St. Mary’s the neurointerventional special procedures team is led by Dr. Ali Malek, one of the few neurointerventionalists in the country.
