Seven Tenet Florida Hospitals Receive Top Patient Safety Scores

May 1, 2015
Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade Counties, Fla. (May 1, 2015) – Coral Gables Hospital, Delray Medical Center, Florida Medical Center – a campus of North Shore, Good Samaritan Medical Center, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, St. Mary’s Medical Center and West Boca Medical Center are proud to earn “A” Hospital Safety Scores.

The Leapfrog Group, a non-profit organization that provides healthcare information to consumers, assigns “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” scores to U.S. hospitals based on their performance in keeping patients safe from preventable medical errors, injuries, accidents and infections. The seven Tenet Healthcare Florida hospitals’ “A” scores are part of The Leapfrog Group’s spring 2015 report and can be found in the latest update to the Hospital Safety Score.

“Our ability to achieve the highest ratings once again from The Leapfrog Group is proof of our ongoing commitment to implement effective patient safety measures,” said Marsha Powers, CEO of Tenet Healthcare’s Florida region. “I am proud of all of our employees and physicians who contributed to this significant accomplishment. We will continue to make safety a top priority.”

The Leapfrog Group evaluated and graded more than 2,500 hospitals nationwide. Only 782 (about 30 percent) of hospitals received an “A” score. The Hospital Safety Score was compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts in patient safety and is designed to provide the public information that can be used to protect themselves and their families. The Leapfrog Group releases the reports on a biannual basis.
