A Palm Beach Children’s Hospital Manager achieves Hall of Fame

Jane Miller Recognized for Outstanding Patient Care and Innovation

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. – April 23, 2015 – Palm Beach Children’s Hospital announced today that Jane Miller, a child life program manager, has been inducted into the Tenet Heroes Hall of Fame, Tenet Healthcare Corporation’s highest honor for employees, at a ceremony in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 11.

Miller’s commitment to excellent patient care and developing innovative programs is shown in many ways. She helps her young patients feel more empowered to tackle their illnesses. She developed a number of creative programs such as “Super Serum,” which helps change the perception of chemotherapy and other IV medications by using a super-hero themed activity. Miller wrote “Super Hero Kid,” a comic book featuring a young child fighting a slime monster. When he tires, he needs to recharge by taking his Super Serum. Each patient receives their own Super Serum box that includes a super hero logo that covers and transforms IV medication bags into the Super Serum. Children also receive a Super Cape, Super Sack and a copy of the comic book.

With her Bravery Band program, children receive a different colored wristband each time they complete a major hospital experience. Other programs include the Hero Alliance that gives the community ways to engage with and support patients. The Hero Club gives group sports tickets to patients and their families and lets them meet their favorite players.

Miller was one of seven individuals who were inducted into the Tenet Heroes Hall of Fame. This year’s recipients were chosen from more than 130 submissions. Tenet Heroes are nominated by their hospital’s leadership team and selected based on their dedication to their patients, colleagues and communities. The Tenet Heroes Hall of Fame recognizes exceptional employees who demonstrate Tenet’s values of quality, integrity, service, innovation and transparency.
