Mother & Baby

We Deliver for You

Each expectant mother has different hopes and beliefs about childbirth. Some prefer an all-natural experience, while others take comfort in pain management. Those undergoing cesarean sections may prefer to remain awake and bond with their babies immediately.

At St. Mary’s Medical Center, we work with you to meet your preferences whenever possible, for your comfort, joy and peace of mind.

Ready for every possibility

You can never be sure about what surprises your baby might have in store for you, so it’s comforting to know you’ve chosen a hospital that’s equipped to address the unexpected.

  • Specialized physicians and nurses on staff 24/7.
  • Level III NICU-Highest level of neonatal intensive care in Palm Beach County.
  • A specialized team for high-risk pregnancies.
  • All private rooms.
  • Deluxe rooms available at The Birthplace Suites
  • Extended visiting hours and accommodations available so that the new dad or a support partner can stay over.

From highly-trained healthcare professionals and advanced technology, to comfortable, family-oriented practices, we’re ready to treat moms and their newborns with all the care, respect and compassion they deserve.

In the event that a newborn needs additional care, he or she will also have access to a variety of pediatric specialties and outpatient clinics at the Palm Beach Children’s Hospital at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

These, among others, may be some of the reasons that more expectant mothers choose St. Mary’s than any other hospital in Palm Beach County. In fact, we have been voted as Best Place to Deliver Your Baby in Palm Beach County in 2015, 2016 and 2017 by readers of South Florida Parenting Magazine.

St. Mary's Medical Center has also received Healthgrades 5-star rating for Vaginal and C-Section Delivery for 9 Consecutive years (2015-2023).

Before Baby Arrives

Babies are a handful, even before they’ve arrived. We have some advice to help make your big day go well. Make sure you have selected a hospital with a convenient location and ask plenty of questions to determine whether the hospital has all the services you need (midwives, child-birthing classes).

The best time to pre-register for delivery is in the seventh month of your pregnancy, which is in the third trimester. You will also need to have a safety seat for your baby. And don’t forget to register for our eNursery to post pictures for your friends and family.

During Your Stay

Soon after you arrive, you will settle into your own comfortable private room. This is where you will stay for labor, delivery and recovery.

Your accommodations include a private bathroom and shower, an adjustable bed, and a couch or reclining chair for your labor partner. Spanish language services are available for those who need them.

Once your new family member has arrived, our neonatologists and nurses will be on hand to administer any special care or treatment that may be required. We also offer state-of-the-art equipment to help care for your new baby.

Postpartum Support

Those first days with your new baby are precious. You will find the privacy you need to bond with your newborn, along with plenty of experienced caregivers who can answer your questions when you need a little guidance.

If you plan to breastfeed your baby, you can take the time you need to adjust to this new part of motherhood, or you can seek help from one of our certified lactation consultants. They are always available for consultations in-room and will provide the support you need to get started.
