Brittany's Maternity Story
For dedicated employee, St. Mary's serves as place of birth, work and delivery of her own daughter

Brittany Wilson has a deep-rooted connection to St. Mary’s Medical Center. Not only was she born there, but she has been working in the human resources department for nearly 10 years. So when she and her husband, Kevin, learned they were expecting a baby girl, choosing where to have their daughter was a no-brainer.
Not only does St. Mary’s have a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the highest level designated by the state, the hospital was also recently recognized by Healthgrades as being in the top 5% in the nation for maternal and obstetrics care. Brittany was very familiar with St. Mary’s top-notch maternity services and had no doubt that she and her baby would be in good hands.
“One of the most important factors I considered during my pregnancy was delivering at a hospital that had a Level III NICU,” she shares. “Although expectant mothers don’t want to think of anything happening last minute, it’s better to be prepared in case it does. I’m fortunate that I didn’t have to go far, as St. Mary’s has an amazing NICU team and labor and delivery program.”
Because she already knew her maternity care team from working at the hospital, Brittany felt completely at ease when the time came to welcome her daughter, Kherington, into the world. She also enjoyed the comforts of the hospital’s Birthplace Suites, designed to provide families with a resort-like experience, and all of the resources available to her, such as a lactation consultant and Lactation Center.
Now 3 years old, Kherington is still asked about by the nurses who took care of her and has become a familiar face at St. Mary’s and Palm Beach Children’s Hospital’s special events.
Brittany says she and her husband look forward to someday expanding their family.
“When we decide to have another child, we will most definitely be returning to St. Mary’s,” she shares. “I wouldn’t choose to go anywhere else.”
