The Birthplace Tour

We encourage you to tour our maternity unit as you prepare for the upcoming birth of your baby. Tours include a look inside our all-private patient rooms, registration and family waiting areas. You’ll learn more about our security procedures, our Level III NICU (the highest state designation) and the specialty care available at the Palm Beach Children’s Hospital.

Daddy Boot Camp

New babies do not come with instructions, so diaper changes, feeding, burping, and calming a crying infant can be intimidating for many first-time fathers. Rookie dads will learn basic baby care and safety, how to support your partner, proper car seat safety, and other practical tips on how to bond with your baby. *Fee based class

Newborn Care

Our newborn care class is designed to educate parents about infant health, wellness and safety, and to help ease the fear of caring for a newborn baby.  In this class, you will learn the basics of newborn care including: bathing, diapering, nutrition, feeding, sleeping habits, and infant safety.

Off to a Good Start Breastfeeding Class

This class is designed to help moms create successful breastfeeding routines with their babies. Our lactation consultants educate moms on how breastfeeding works, different positions for breastfeeding, nutritional guidance for mom, and where to get more help if you need it.

Lois’ Legacy Breastfeeding Support Group

Led by one of our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, the Lois’ Legacy Breastfeeding Support Group is open to all breastfeeding mothers and babies in the community, including employees, patients and mothers who are already at home with their children. This class is dedicated to helping moms improve their breastfeeding relationships with their babies by teaching the benefits of breastfeeding, how to help your baby to latch on effectively, how to know if your baby is getting enough milk and additional topics.

Childbirth Education

Our experienced labor and delivery nurses can help give you confidence as you prepare for childbirth, whether you’re a first-time mom or are welcoming a new addition to your established family. During this class, you will learn:

  • Signs of labor and when to call your doctor or midwife
  • What to do when you arrive at the hospital
  • The progression of labor and birth
  • Options available for coping with labor

Families & Friends® CPR Class: Infant and Child CPR

Learning infant and child CPR is something parents should consider. Our certified instructors use hands-on training techniques with child-sized mannequins to demonstrate how to perform different aspects of CPR, and how to assist a choking child. You’ll also learn about accident prevention and techniques for “childproofing” your home. *Fee based class

Super Sibling Class

Through fun, interactive activities, Child Life specialists help soon-to-be big brothers or sisters learn what to expect when their new sibling arrives. This class is designed for children aged 3-10 years old.
